Joseph Van Kerkhove is an accomplished artist, who also holds the positions of Associate Professor of Art and Director of the Diane Kidd Gallery. In his role as Advisor to the Tiffin University Art Team, he draws upon his extensive experience to guide and support students with interests in art. Van Kerkhove resides in Toledo, Ohio, where he runs his printmaking studio from his home. He holds an M.F.A. in Printmaking from Indiana University and a B.F.A. from The Columbus College of Art and Design. His artwork reflects his personal experiences and incorporates a blend of traditional and experimental printmaking techniques.

Joseph’s unique ability to manipulate familiar images into complex compositions allows viewers to reflect and relate to their own memories and experiences. His works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and he is currently represented by J. Petter Galleries in Saugatuck, MI. Joseph is an active member of the Mid America Print Council (MAPC) and Southern Graphics Council International (SGC).

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Joseph is a co-founder of the Experiencing Veterans and Artists Collaborations (EVAC) Project. As an advisor, he oversees the recruitment of participating artists for the project, which brings together veterans and artists. Through the EVAC Project, curators interview veterans about their experiences, and artists create prints based on their interpretation of those stories. The prints are exhibited alongside excerpts from the transcribed interviews, bridging the gap between military and civilian life. The EVAC Project has traveled to over 20 venues since its inception in 2017, including Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Dulles International Airport, Rutherford B. Hayes Library and Museum, and The Flatiron Building in New York City. Additionally, the project was featured at the Mid America Print Conference at Kent State University.
